xorg.conf не меняет разрешение

неважно какой Modes я указываю, разрешение не меняется... в 2007 менялось в 2008 лажа какая-то

1. Попробуйте явным образом задать опции HorizSync и VertRefresh для монитора (искать в google и документации к Х-серверу, что это и как добавить).
2. Если это не лечит проблему, то в дополнение к пункту выше попробуйте еще Option "DPMS" "Off".
3. Если и это не помогает (что вряд ли), то попробуйте задать вручную Modeline для нужных режимов.

Судя по логу, монитор после этого должен заработать максимум после второго пункта в поддерживаемом им режиме нормально.

всё попробовал не работает... неважно какой VertRefresh я выставляю лог постоянно грит vrefresh out of range... даже заюзал gtf чтоб сгенерить ModeLine для своего режима - серовно vrefresh out of range... что странно так то что на той же машине в 2007 генту мне лишь достаточно было указать Modes и всё

зы монитор то работает просто не в том разрешении которое мне нужно... всегда выкидывает в native режим 1680x1050

Аналогичная проблема. У меня viewsonic VA1912w (16/10) видеокарта radeon х1600xt. Разрешение устанавливается любое, но для формата 4/3. Редактирование xorg.conf согласно данным выше советам не помогло.

Это не может быть связано с проприетарными дровами для видеокарты? Может им вообще xorg по барабану?

Только что проблема разрешилась: поменял драйвер на новый и использовал сначала aticonfig --initial, затем aticonfig -- resolution=0,1440x900 (это мое разрешение)
